Makeup is Not a Mask

Makeup is not a mask. It is not something that you wear to hide your true self.

Rather, it is something that you wear to reveal a part of your true self. Makeup is my passion. (Well, aside from writing haha!) So I want to encourage women and young girls to see the truth i.e., as much as my opinion is concern, about wearing a makeup.

1. You don't need makeup to make you beautiful because you are already beautiful, handcrafted by God himself. The reason we wear makeup is to enhance your already-there-beauty, not to hide it. So avoid using lighter shades of foundation to somehow "project" that you are light-skinned. Embrace your true color, or should I say your true shade. :)

TIP: When choosing for a foundation shade choose the color that is nearest to your neck, not your face.

2. When you wear your makeup that face is still you. Unlike Batman or Sprider-Man or any other super hero who wear a mask to hide their true identity, you wear makeup to reveal the true you. (Yes I said it already, but that's because I want to push a point so be patient.) It does't mean that without makeup you are lost. You see, that's the difference. Without the mask of Batman, will he be the same? No, it's a part of the package. Same is true with Spider-Man. But for a woman it's different. One time a friend of mine asked me why I wasn't wearing any makeup when I went to work one day. I told her, "I want to prove to myself that I can still go outside the house without wearing any makeup." Sounds shallow to some people. But my point is, there are some women who can't go outside when they're not wearing any makeup.Which should not be the case. You define makeup, makeup does not define you.

TIP: Go for the look that you are comfortable wearing not because it's "in".

3. Yes we use concealers to hide the imperfections because nobody is perfect. Everybody has a flaw. But concealers are just temporary, so be reminded to take care of yourself. Did you know that stress and lack of sleep are one of the reasons for breakouts and dark circles? Of course you do. So take care of yourself. :)

TIP: Apply concealers after you applying your foundation, this way the concealer will no longer "move" because the foundation is already there.

4. At the end of the day, you still take it off. Yes, no matter how beautiful the makeup you wore, before going to bed you still need to take it off. It is temporary. Just like your clothes that you have to change everyday. My point? Appreciate your beauty with or without makeup. And be grateful for the people who compliment you with or without your makeup.

TIP: Avoid using waterproof mascaras. If you should use one use it on special occasions only, not everyday because it can dry your lashes. Also, if you find it hard to remove dab a cotton in an extra virgin coconut or olive oil and use it as an eye makeup remover. This is far better than the makeup removers in the market that contain harsh ingredients.

So there, I hope you enjoyed reading. Remember, a good makeup is a ruined makeup if the one wearing it is a snob! :) xoxo
